Adopt a Dog

The following dogs are looking for a new home.

Name: Benson

Sex: dog

Age: almost 1 year

Information: This handsome lurcher is Benson, who came into the rescue kennels with his brother and a chihuahua when their owner moved to accommodation where no dogs are allowed. Because of his colouring, we think that he could be crossed with a Dalmation. His brother and the chihuahua have found new homes and Benson found a home too, but the child in that home refused to accept having a dog in the house. Benson is a very friendly dog who is very good with children, cats and with other dogs. He can be left on his own for a short time. Benson is in the kennels in Devon. RESERVED

Name: Bertie

Sex: dog

Age: 2 years

Information: Lovely lurcher Bertie came in as stray. From his micro-chip we know that he was born on 23 October 2016. Bertie loves people and is a very friendly dog, and he has been fine with all the other dogs in the kennels. He is not used to children, so needs an adult only home. He is not good with cats. Bertie has been fully vaccinated and neutered. He is in the kennels in Dorset. RESERVED

Name: Brodie

Sex: dog

Age: 2 years

Information: Lurcher Brodie was in the kennels for a very long time before he found a home. Sadly, that home has turned out to be unsuitable for him and he is now back in the rescue kennels and longing for the day when he will find someone who will love him. When Brodie first came into the rescue, he was very nervous, but over the time he was in he has improved a lot. He can, however, still be nervous in new situations, so he needs an owner who will help to build his confidence with lots of patience and love. Brodie likes other dogs, but he is not keen on cats. He is not used to small children, so any children in his new home should be older ones. Brodie has been fully vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped and he is house-trained and has good recall when off the lead, although will need to be kept on lead for a while until he regains his confidence when in his new home. He is in the kennels in Devon.

Name: Buster

Sex: dog

Age: 11 years

Information: Doberman/Labrador Buster has come into the rescue kennels with his best friend Marley because their owner has had to go into a care home. They have lived happily together, but if necessary they can be re-homed separately. They are friendly dogs who get on well with other dogs and with people. Buster and Marley are in the kennels in Devon.

Name: Danny and Amber

Sex: dog and bitch

Age: almost 5 and 6 and a half years

Information: Greyhounds Danny and Amber have been with their owners since they finished racing. Danny was born on 1 June 2014 and Amber was born on 28 August 2012. Danny is blue and Amber is brindle. Very sadly, due to tragic family circumstances, their family can no longer keep them and so they have had to come into the rescue kennels until they can find a new home together. Danny and Amber are devoted and need each other, and we feel that they would find it very difficult to cope if they were separated, so we are looking for a home where they can stay together. They are very clean in the house and as long as they have each other for company, they can be left for 4-5 hours. Danny and Amber are used to living with children aged 10 and over. They are in the kennels in Dorset.

Name: Harry

Sex: dog

Age: 6-8 years

Information: Lovely Harry is a medium sized lurcher and very cuddly! He loves cuddles and his tail is always wagging! He was not micro-chipped and all efforts to find his previous owner have failed, so Harry is now looking for a new home. He is in the kennels in Devon.

Name: Hermes

Sex: dog

Age: 3 years

Information: Hermes is a very handsome, large male greyhound. He can be a little quiet at first but he soon comes out of his shell and enjoys a scratch behind the ears. Hermes is good with other greyhounds and large dogs and could live with another big dog, however we do not know what he will be like with small dogs and would not be suitable to live with cats. Hermes is good off lead but needs a bit more recall practice – he does come back for a treat though! He walks beautifully on a lead. He is clean in the kennel and loves cuddling into his duvet at night. We would like Hermes to go to a quiet, relaxed home where he will get lots of attention and plenty of room for naps. Hermes was born on 1 September 2015. He is in the kennels in Dorset.

Name: Jewel

Sex: bitch

Age: 4 years

Information: Jewel is a small female greyhound was has come into the rescue kennels after being retired from racing in April 2018. She was 4 years old in May. She is black with a white tip on her tail. Jewel needs a cat free home, but can live with children aged over 5 years. Until now, the only other dogs that Jewel has met are greyhounds, so we don't know how she would be with small dogs. She can live with another greyhound or lurcher, or as an only dog, as long as she is not left for more than 4 hours a day. Jewel is in the kennels in Devon.

Name: Joe

Sex: dog

Age: almost 2 years

Information: This very very beautiful greyhound is Joe. If you are looking for a dog who is very playful and loves everyone, then Joe could be just what you are looking for. He was bred to race, but was far more interested in playing with the other greyhounds than he was in racing them. Because he is very much a dog who loves people, Joe would be happiest in a home where he is the only dog. He has not met any cats. He was born on 19 November 2016. Joe can live with children aged 5 or over. He is in the kennels in Devon.

Name: Juke

Sex: dog

Age: 8-9 years

Information: This lovely staffy is Juke, who has come into the rescue kennels because his owner has, sadly, passed away. Juke is good with children from 3 years. He is also good with other dogs, but he hates cats. Juke is in the kennels in Devon.

Name: Kip

Sex: dog

Age: 3-4 years

Information: Anatolian Shepherd Kip has been living in a home, but because of a change of circumstances he has come into the rescue kennels until he can find a new home. Kip is good on the lead. He has a lovely, cheeky, playful personality. He is looking for a home where he will be the only dog and if there are any children, they should be at least 12 years old. Kip is in the kennels in Devon.

Name: Misty

Sex: bitch

Age: almost 7 years

Information: This very pretty lurcher is Misty, who was bought in through the police as the people in the household she was in were arrested but no one has claimed her to be their dog so an owner was never found! Misty was born on 31/07/12 although she does not act her age at all. She is just a bit bigger than a whippet size with crazy ears! Misty has lots of energy and loves to play. She is very food orientated so if she does go to a home with other dogs it would be best to feed her in a separate room from them. Misty is in the kennels in Devon.

Name: Queenie

Sex: bitch

Age: 5 years

Information: Greyhound Queenie is a beautiful, very affectionate girl who found a new home for a short time, so is house-trained. Sadly her owner's ill-health meant that she had to come back into rescue and needs a new home. Queenie has mild epilepsy, which is kept under control by giving her a low dose tablet every day. Lovely Queenie is in Dorset.

Name: Roxy

Sex: bitch

Age: 9 years

Information: Staffy Roxy has come into the rescue kennels because her owners have had to leave their home and move into accommodation where no dogs are allowed. Roxy is a very friendly dog who is used to children. She is quite good off the lead, but can be a bit vocal when she meets other dogs. She can get competitive over food, and likes to eat her meals in her crate. We are looking for a home for Roxy where she will be the only dog and where there are no cats. Roxy is in the kennels n Devon.

Name: Sam

Sex: dog

Age: 7 years

Information: This lovely collie is Sam, who has come into the rescue kennels because his owner has had to go into a care home. He is looking for a new home with someone who is an experienced collie owner. Sam loves the outdoors and when he is in the house, he does not like being shut in one room, so would need to be allowed to wander from room to room to room when he wants to. Sam has not lived with children, so needs a home where children, if there are any, are no younger than in their teens. He is in the kennels in Dorset.

Name: Seth

Sex: dog

Age: 4 years

Information: Beautiful black greyhound Seth has come into the rescue kennels with his brothers Peaky and Billy after being retired from racing. He was born on 12 September 2013. Seth is a lovely, affectionate boy who will make a wonderful pet and companion for someone. He loves people and will be happiest in a home where he is the only dog. He can live with older children and can be left for up to 4 hours a day. Seth cannot live with cats. He is in the kennels in Devon.

Name: Sooty

Sex: Dog

Age: about 7 months

Information: Saluki cross pup Sooty was dumped by someone with his brother Sweep. They were not micro-chipped, so we have not been able to trace their owner. He is a lovely, playful young dog who loves people and is very good with other dogs. Sooty has met a cat and ignored it, so we think that with careful introduction he should be able to live with a cat. He can live with children aged over 8 years. Sooty has been vaccinated and is now micro-chipped, but as he is too young to be neutered, so the rescue will pay his new owner's own vet to do it when he is old enough to have it done. Sooty is in the kennels in Devon.

Name: Sweep

Sex: dog

Age: about 7 months

Information: Saluki cross pup Sweep was dumped by someone with his brother Sooty. They were not micro-chipped, so we have not been able to trace their owner. He is a lovely, playful young dog who loves people and is very good with other dogs. Sweep has met a cat and made no attempt to chase it, but seemed to be a bit frightened of it, so we think that with careful introduction he may be able to live with a cat. He can live with children aged over 8 years. Sweep has been vaccinated and is now micro-chipped, but as he is too young to be neutered, so the rescue will pay his new owner's own vet to do it when he is old enough to have it done. Sweep is in the kennels in Devon.

Name: Zola

Sex: bitch

Age: 9 years

Information: Staffy Zola has come into the rescue kennels because her owners have had to leave their home and move into accommodation where no dogs are allowed. She likes to sleep under the duvet at night. She cannot live with cats. Zola is not good off the lead. She is in the kennels in Devon.
